About Counties Medical
We have two Family Health general practices and two Urgent Care clinics. They are located centrally in Papakura and 4.5 kilometres away in our purpose-built health centre in Waiata Shores, Takanini. This was opened in 2023. Both sites are modern and well equipped, supported by our local Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau. We are 100% owned by South Link Health Services, under the umbrella of the South Link Education Trust.
We are part of ProCare, who are our PHO.
We are partly a VLCA (Very Low Cost Access) provider. There is amazing collegial support within our Family Health and Urgent Care teams, who operate from the same sites.
Our patients and our staff are representative of the area that we operate in. We have 6400 enrolled patients in Family Health, of which 21% are Māori and 14% Pasifika.
We conduct full inductions onsite for all new staff members. We provide ongoing training to keep up to date with regulations and have weekly full team meetings.
Our Family Health practices are open Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm. We operate morning and afternoon sessions. Each session has twelve 15-minute patient appointments. There is no requirement for working after hours, however if you are interested we are happy to consider shifts in our Urgent Care clinics if this is of interest.
Our Urgent Care clinics are open 8.00am to 8.00pm, every day including public holidays.
We use the latest version of cloud-based Medtech Evolution as our Patient Management System, and we have Manage My Health.
We have strong relationships with primary and secondary services, as well the other health providers on site including Radiology, Dental, Physiotherapy and EAP (Takanini) services.
We are Foundation-accredited.
